The latest addition to our gang is our fluffy bunny, Engel (Angel, in German).
This bouncy guy turned upside down all my misconceptions about rabbits. He is very relaxed, calm, couldn't care less about the cats, he is litter box trained and he fallows us around the house just like a dog.
For some reason he doesn't like carrots, but that is just of the many not-rabbit-like things about him :)

Karma
Meet Karma, our second Syrian hamster. She's also a rescue, like most of our pets, that's actually how she got her name.
When she first came to us she was quite shy, afraid of humans and not very eager to roam free, but all that has changed in just a few months.
Her teddy bear look makes her all the more adorable.

Aria
Our small bundle of thorns, Aria is not just any hedgehog. She's cranky, like any hedgehog, but once you start holding her and talking to her she can be very loving and cuddly.
Her favorite burrow is under pillow on the couch. And that is how we can unwillingly spend a night with a hedgehog :)

Mickey
This Garfield-like character is Mickey. He belonged to my beloved grandma. When she passed away he came to live with us.
He has a warm and loving personality, his main activities include purring and lap-napping. That and chasing Hexe around the house all day. She's his favorite: wherever she is, his always there, sneaking around the corners, just to get the right moment to jump on her.

The Doves
These are Blu and Jewel. They are our amazing doves which gave us the opportunity to experience Animal Planet images in our living room.
About a year ago they had two eggs that turned into an amazing pair of baby birds. We watched them grow from egg to bird, from helpless small chicks to fully feathered doves.
The sounds that they make are incredible. I know of no better lullaby than their singing.

Haka
The most exotic of our pets, Haka is a flying squirrel, or a Sugar Glider. She is incredibly agile, especially in the dark and she loves yogurt.
The bad part in having a Sugar Glider is that she's awake when we're asleep, namely after 1 or 2 A.M.
I haven't seen her gliding so far, though she has been with us for more than a year, but I haven't lost hope :)

Blitz
This guy is a loving little mouse, fluffy and clumsy, joyful and well behaved.
Jack
This is our Ghost Cat. Most our friends only heard stories of him and saw a few pictures. And that's because, like any true ghost, he can only be seen by us, the people who live in the house, and he only comes out at night (when all possible visitors have left and there are no more noises from the outside).
The truth is he is so elusive because he is scared of everything and everyone. The minute someone knocks on the door he dives right under the bed and he can stay there for days, if he is not convinced the danger has passed. When we introduced him to Engel (our innocent and fluffy rabbit), he was out of his mind with fear. You could literally see it in his eyes :)

The Degus
This is Leslie, the youngest of our gang of Degu squirrels.
He is playful, intuitive, curious, mischievous at times, but nothing lifts his spirits more than a belly rub.
If something can be chewed, he will chew it. If something can be climbed, he will climb it. This determination of his cost us a lot of money so far (money that went into replacing whatever he climbed and chewed, especially electronics cables), but he and his gang can also be lovable and sweet. :)

Java
She is the Star of the family. At only 3 years old she was voted by all my friends to be on the cover of the Healthy Paws book.
Of all our pets, she's the most talkative and the most childish. Her personality stayed behind her actual age, because even to this day she always acts like a 5 months kitten.
Just like most of our pets, she's a rescue.

Casper
This was Casper.
He recently passed away and he took a big part of my heart with him. He was only five and a half years when he decided to go.
My Great White was overcome by an atypical and incurable disease, at the end of one long year, during which, together with my colleagues, I struggled to make him stay for a couple of more years.
He was much more than a pet. He was serenity itself, he was my ever devoted friend and my Blue Eyed Miracle. I know that he will always live in my heart.

Hexe
Meet Hexe. She is The Prime Cat, the very first cat we got. She's the oldest one of our mini zoo - she'll be 7 in February.
Hexe (witch, in German) lives up to her name. She's unpredictable, most of the times she's a total nut case. Hates everyone, humans, mice, cats, dogs - babies or adults. We're the only ones that can touch her, but only when she's in the mood.
Crazy as she is, we love her exactly because of her constant crankiness :)
